TNH is proud to support Board Member, Pina De Rosa, as she will give her second TEDxTalk on Wednesday, August 24th, at 9:15am EDT.
This 5th annual TEDxWilmington will have speakers from 14 states and 4 countries; we are excited to know this sold-out event will be live streamed on https://livestream.com/TEDx
Why watch this TEDx?
"What if we lived in a world where instead of a scary thought, a cancer diagnosis could actually be the access to renewed health? What if there was a non-invasive, pain-free, radiation-free, cost-effective way to detect cancer earlier than any current testing? What a game-chnager would that be, especially considering that 1 in 2 men, and 1 in 3 women are affected by cancer today!"
Indeed, this upcoming TEDxTalk will bring light to Pina's favorite passion project: www.SniffingOutCancer.com - a groundbreaking documentary that sheds light on dogs' proven ability to detect cancer earlier, and with greater accuracy than ANY current testing. Having lost her best girlfriend to a late cancer diagnosis, Pina was inspired to come on board as the executive producer of this documentary 3 ½ years ago, as her wish is to save people from losing their loved ones to cancer due to a late diagnosis.
The “Sniffing Out Cancer” Documentary is the vision of Adriana LaCorte, who will give this TEDxTalk together with Pina: two amazing ladies speaking together on such a brilliant world stage, giving a purpose-driven talk that is sure to leave the audience blown away and in inspired action!
We are THRILLED they get to bring this subject to the public, and that you will discover how this story has been developing. Indeed, this TEDx will focus both on the making of the documentary, and on where do we see it go next?!
We look forward to encouraging them on this journey: their purpose is to educate and shed light on how these pups can literally save lives by detecting cancer earlier and with greater accuracy than any current testing!
Here's the live stream link again: https://livestream.com/TEDx When you get to that live streaming page, you can select "TEDxWilmington" and your live streaming will begin. Pina and Adriana are scheduled to be on stage live from 9:15 am to 9:30am EDT.
TNH supports "SniffingOutCancer" and invites you to follow this groundbreaking Documentary on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
We are proud of our TNH member, Pina De Rosa - as a professional speaker, when Pina speaks on college campuses through www.CollegeSpeakingWithPina.com, she shares from her personal experience of being raped during her first semester in college: her message is not only an inspirational dialogue on date-rape awareness and sexual assault prevention, it is life-saving. As Pina puts it, "We can create a new legacy together!"
You can find out more about her on www.GratitudeInternational.com Her first TEDxTalk "Choices...Choices..." is about to reach 200'000 views, and we invite you to watch it here:
About TEDx ( x= independently organized event)
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.) Since 2009, more than one billion people have viewed TEDx talks worldwide.
Ajit Mathew George was granted the TEDx license in the fall of 2011. Between 2012 and 2015, TEDxWilmington has showcased 94 speakers who gave TEDx talks that have had over half a million views. Over 50 people have volunteered to be part of the 2016 TEDxWilmington tribe. TEDxWilmington has invited creators, catalysts, entrepreneurs, artists, technologists, designers, scientists, thinkers and doers to make a contribution and support what they are most passionate about—positive ideas for the world and Delaware. For a full list of programming, visit www.tedxwilmington.com.
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or fewer) delivered by today's leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED's annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, and made available, free, on TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
TED's open and free initiatives for spreading ideas include TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from thousands of volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed; the annual million-dollar TED Prize, which funds exceptional individuals with a "wish," or idea, to create change in the world; TEDx, which provides licenses to thousands of individuals and groups who host local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; and the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
